Cornelius Town Commissioner:

Elected for his first term in 2013, Jim became Town Commissioner after a tough campaign with a field of 10 candidates and winning his home precinct outright.  Jim is driven by three goals: 1) improve Town services with an emphasis on underserved areas; 2) establish and encourage dialog between and among divergent interests within the Town; and 3) set appropriate funding priorities for maximum impact and reasonable costs.

Military Career:

As a career Army Officer, Jim distinguished himself on the battlefield and in staff positions at the Pentagon.  Jim received the Distinguished Flying Cross for Valor and the Air Medal for Valor in Vietnam and has numerous awards for meritorious service and leadership.

Government Service:

Jim followed his military experience with 24 years in the Civil Service.  He was posted to the Executive Office of the President and served two sitting Presidents.

Education:

Jim has a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance from Southern Methodist University and Graduated with Honors at Syracuse University with a Master’s Degree in Financial Management. Jim is also a graduate of The Federal Executive Institute in Charlottesville, Virginia.

Family:

Jim is married to his wife Carolyn of 45 years, has three grown children and 10 grandchildren.
